Preschool Themes

Here are the themes we have put activities together for preschool, the school year of 2013-2014. I will be adding to this list as we do them!

A quick note about themes: When I put together themes, I don’t make EVERYTHING we do that week about the theme. I think it’s a bit overkill! I pick out books to match the theme and do a few projects. I usually don’t correlate math, for example, to the theme. There may be exceptions occasionally, of course, but I just want to be clear that we do more than just focus on one subject for a week.

Here’s what we have done so far:

I’m Unique
Family Unit Week
Friends and Feelings
Germs and Dental Health
Camping Theme, Part 1
Camping Theme, Part 2
Trees Theme

I love your weekly themes! I so wish we had access to a library. This year we are doing a book a week theme to make our home library stretch a little. I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Thanks Jody! I actually had a hard time deciding if I would do what we are doing now or if I would pick a book and do a theme around it like you are doing- there are simply too many good ideas! Maybe I will do it next year..is it sad that I am already thinking that far ahead?

I think it’s wonderful that you are already thinking about next year! There are so many great ideas – way too much to fit into one year.
